The main idea of the course is about communication and interaction in the business environment. You
will be required to study a number of communication and public relations theories. You will develop
skills and knowledge that enable you to analyze, create and understand communication strategies.
Course Assessments:
1. Case Study (individual) (35 marks)
This is a case study on public relations. Each student must study the case thoroughly and understand it
from theoretical and practical perspectives.

1.1. Give the summary of the case. (3 marks)
1.2. What is the main problem in the case? (2 marks)
1.3. Discuss why the company is successful. (5 marks)
1.4. Explain the roles of public relations (PR) in the success of the company. (5 marks)
1.5. Discuss any two PR tools or techniques that contributed to the profitability of the company. How
did each of these tools help the company? (8 marks)
1.6. How can the knowledge of the case study be applied in the context of any relevant business in the
Sultanate of Oman? What knowledge from the case study can you use to enhance PR in a company
(specify/name the company and describe its business/operations briefly) operating in Oman? (12
marks)
2. Participation in class e-learning activities (15 marks) – involvement in Blackboard/MS Teams
3. Mid-semester assessment (25 marks) – covers the first 50% of the topics
4. Final assessment (25) – covers the remaining 50% of the topics
