A Multidimensional Perspective

A multidimensional perspective focuses on getting a better understanding with fine-tuned details on the public health issue or topic (Gur, 2016). This type of perspective is more advantageous to topics or issues that are more complex and requires an assessment from multiple points of view. However, the disadvantage or a challenge in utilizing this approach to a focused public health problem is that it can provide too many factors that produce cofounding variables.

Ways to Reduce the Challenges

A cofounding variable is external uncalled for factors that affect the outcome of a situation. For example, those who are immunosuppressed are more prone to contracting covid. Logically this would make sense because, for those who are immunosuppressed, their immune system is already weakened depending on the current treatment plan they are on, such as chemo which kills good cells, which leave the body vulnerable to infection. However, using a multidimensional perspective to further analyze this scenario would result in a confounding variable such as those who have a higher education level and are immunosuppressed are less prone to covid. A way to reduce this challenge would be to develop a strategic plan that would result in fewer external factors and focuses more on the specific public health issues. This means educating everyone who is immunosuppressed regardless of educational background on the techniques and methods of covid-19 protection and prevention.
