Refer to the syllabus for grading guidelines

DISCUSSION 4

Respond to the following questions:

1. What have you learned in your reading about Birth Order? Describe some of the research and whether the findings show if birth order within families has an effect on achievement, intelligence or any other aspect of individual or family life.

2. Do some research on the Finish model of education and describe at least 5 key components of the system.  Add to your discussion the point of view and experiences of our guest speaker.

You may use your learning resources for the week or find other resources outside of the classroom. Your sources must be scholarly (books, articles, interviews of experts, etc.). Be sure to include in-text citations and a reference list where appropriate to support your responses.

This discussion must be posted by the end of the day, Tuesday November 17.

DISCUSSION 5

1) The Rubric gives you 2 points per week for Participation.  We are going to use those points to grade your Reading Summaries. Each week, when prompted by your teacher, you will share certain reading summaries as a response to a thread under the discussion section of the Content.  More details will be discussed in class.

2) Write a Critical Thinking paper in which you combine your personal experience with highlights from the week’s reading. In particular, write a one-page essay (double spaced) in which you describe your experiences with your grandparents, and connect them to at least 3 key points and research results described in your reading on Grandchildren and Grandparents (2 articles).  For example, you might have or have had grandparents who played a major role in raising you and/or your siblings. Describe in what way they fulfilled that role but also point to and comment on the research findings about the involvement of grandparents in the educating, disciplining and otherwise contribution to the raising of grandchildren.  Remember to cite and reference your reading according to APA format.
