Reflect on what it means to spend 20 years in any ministry.
(Module 5) |
Topic: Reflect on what it means to spend 20 years in any ministry. Then focus on what it means to do that within the context of youth ministry. What are some of the benefits to having that type of longevity at a single church, specifically in relation to a single youth ministry? Briefly discuss this topic of longevity in youth ministry and how this can affect a youth group in the present and future as well as the rest of the church. Submit your thread no later than 11:59 p.m. (ET) on Thursday of Module/Week 5. Then, reply to at least 2 other classmates’ threads no later than 11:59 p.m. (ET) on Sunday of the same module/week. |
Twenty years is a long time in ministry! Some of you have had pastors that have been there that long, but most of us have probably experienced a very different reality in our churches. I did not do a good job of establishing longevity as a youth pastor early in my ministry and I am very sorry that I did not understand this principle much sooner. I hope to have the kind of relationships at my current church that can make a lifetime of difference. As you share this week, once again, think about practical ways we can help increase the longevity in our youth ministries.
