Business Proposal- Leadership Training Needed
Leadership Training Need Identified
To: Senior Management
Subject: Leadership Training Program
I have noticed sluggish employees and have received negative remarks about our organization’s leadership, or lack of. I would like us to recommend a leadership training program which will enable leaders to provide increased performance, camaraderie, and hopefully reduce burn out.
First, recently I have noticed our team underperforming and spending time discussing what they wish our organization would do to make them feel more valued. Feedback is one of the factors we should focus on. I am aware we complete an annual performance review however; team members would like to have feedback more frequently. Employees want to know how well they are doing and what goals they can set to improve. I feel like leaders should provide feedback on a monthly basis or PRN if necessary. This will increase performance by providing positive or constructive criticism.
Problem: Under performance due to lack of feedback
Solution: Provide feedback monthly or PRN
Outcome: Increased performance
Next, camaraderie will be induced by celebrating our organization’s victories. Far too often teams exceed performance goals collectively, i.e. producing over goal. Our company currently does not provide a way to thank our team members which is causing low morale. Our teams are disappointed that we always expect them to work and achieve but we have no intent of rewarding. I recommend, when goals are exceeded, setting up a group function such as an extra half hour for the team to extend their lunch or a night at the ballpark. Camaraderie will prevail by allowing the team to organize how they prefer to celebrate success and allowing for celebration to occur. Collaboration of reward types will create positivity amongst the team.
Problem: Low morale due to not celebrating victories/ achievements
Solution: Set up a group function
Outcome: Induced camaraderie and increased team positivity
Burn out is occurring in our organization as well. Many team members are taking up slack for others and are receiving an abundance of overtime. Some team members stated they “just wish I didn’t have to work as late all of the time because I have family to go home to as well”. I suggest creating a rotating schedule that allows all team members to work the allotted eight hour day. Those 1-2 people who stay late the day before should be allowed to come in the following day to make up the difference of time. In addition, if the said team members are unable to come in later due to need then they should be allowed to leave early. This will help prevent burn out and enable the team member to feel as if they’re performance is recognized therefore leads to employee appreciation.
Problem: Employee burn out
Solution: Creating a rotating schedule
Outcome: Prevents burn out and increased appreciation
Our organization should provide training to leaders so leaders may be influenced provide positivity amongst our teams. The leadership training will include finding innovative ways to improve performance, increase camaraderie, and reduce burn out. By doing all off this we will create positivity throughout the company.
