Is the World Coming Closer Together?
Is the world coming closer together? The answer is both yes and no. With technology and innovations, the world has come closer. It’s easy to communicate with people around the globe, easy to promote a product in a different country and hold meetings with people around the globe.
Social media has provided a platform to communicate, share ideas, marketing and promote business/products. Through technology people can know more about different cultures, govt policies and the systems in different countries. Technology provides a way to research the market before thinking about launching a product.
Most of the customer centric companies perform surveys in the target market before product design and launching. This helps in developing a product based on the customer need. Technology has made this process simpler and faster. The corporations are able to reach markets around the globe within seconds and gather information form the customers with the use of technology.
But different countries have different cultures, mainly in the realm of communication, spatial boundaries, perception of time and behavior. Someone who isn’t aware of the culture of the other group may judge and may not accept their culture thus creating a separation among different groups. And also, connecting via technology excludes that part of world who doesn’t have access to advanced technology like others. This creates a division among people.

Investment by a firm is done internationally or in their own country for different reasons but the basic reasons remain the same. The reasons vary between different firms they can be offensive or defensive. Offensive reasons are maximizing total sales revenue, increase long term profit prospects and growth, improve overall market position and take advantage of economies of scale. Some of the defensive goals that multinational firms have are gain access to technological innovations developed in different countries, global moves made by competitors are recognized, taking advantage of difference in operating cost in countries, and avoiding getting locked out from the international market by a late arrival. There are different problems face by an organization when they try to enter foreign markets such as Cultural Misunderstanding, import restrictions, political uncertainty, exchange controls and ownership restrictions and economic conditions. Marketing research is important when expanding and entering foreign markets. Some companies face failures in the global market if the research is not performed properly. Four organization issues are to be analyzed before entering a global market which is the ability to buy, population characteristics, willingness to buy and differences in research tasks and process.
Is the World Coming Closer Together?
Obviously, the world is coming close together and I agree that youth and teens are becoming more alike across the countries without having any cultural differences between them. I think that after teenage years are crossed the effect of culture on a person’s behavior pattern becomes prominent. Easy access to information, news, technology, and trends from across the world is one of the reasons for this change. This influences the mind of the youth collectively be it positive or negative impact results in the change of mindset and a pattern can be seen in a youth’s psychology over the time in a good or bad way. A change can only be seen in the personality, behavior, and attitude substantially after the teenage years is crossed. With the technological advancements in the world, the youth all over the world gets exposed to the different cultures followed in different countries all around the world. For example, Halloween is a festival which is observed in the USA or other countries in the American continent, but nowadays countries like India and China which are on the way to become big and technological giants have also started observing Halloween trends in most of the offices and schools. If this continues soon we will not see any cultural difference between the youth all around the world and it would be technology to blame for the change as it is bringing the world closer.
